I started out with Makita when I entered construction in 2006. This was a funny time because drills and impact drivers were the only cordless tools most people used. All of our skilsaws, sawzalls, and the like were corded. At that time I had a Bosch Jig Saw, A Harbor Frieght multitool, Makita compact drill and imapct, Milwaukee Sawzall, and Skil worm drive saw. Brand loyalty didn't really matter. I would say the reliance on batteries is mainly what drives brand loyalty these days. In my experience Dewalt have quick customer service and I find their tools to be much lighter than Milwaukee. That can make a big difference. During a long day in the sun. The Milwaukee framing nailer is insanely heavy. Sure it fires great but if you have to hold that thing over your head all day you will be dead at the end of the day.
